Tips for Selling It Yourself

RESEARCH
Research is one of the prime advantages of the car dealer. The benefit of researching the marketplace is the ability to determine a realistic asking price for your vehicle. The result? You will most likely sell it more quickly, easily, and profitably.

When possible, try to differentiate expert and industry resource facts and figures from the advice and opinions you receive from friends and family!

PREPARE YOUR CAR FOR SALE
Begin by cleaning the car thoroughly, inside and out. When possible, have the car professionally detailed to ensure its looking its best for prospective buyers. Always replace burnt out lights and top off fluid levels.

PAPERWORK
Before you list your car, make sure you have a Vehicle History Report (VHR), such as those available from Experian AutoCheck, to present to the buyer.

Collect all of your maintenance and inspection records, with receipts when possible, to clearly show buyers how well the car's been taken care of.
Make a copy of your car's title in preparation for a sale. If you don't have the title, ask your lending institution to send it to you with a lien release.
