Title Transfer/Registration

Once payment has been exchanged, the next step in most used car sales is the transfer of title. In states like California you should receive the car's "pink slip" from the buyer.

It's OK to ask to see the seller's ID to ensure that you are buying the car from the legal owner as listed on the car's title.
